Ireland 'can move with the times'.

IRELAND should not be afraid to move out of step with Britain under a proposal to move the country's clocks forward, it's been claimed.

The Bright Evenings Bill, proposed by Independent TD Tommy Broughan, would put us in line with the Central European Time Zone.

Under the current draft bill, the move to put clocks an hour forward would initially be a three-year experiment.

Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association chief Mark Fielding said the country cannot be afraid of going against Britain.

He added: "We have to think of what is good for Ireland and the economy, and we can't be looking over our shoulder all the time."
