Iranian President Sees No Impediment to Growing Ties with Greece.

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's President Hassan Rouhani underlined the abundant capacities of Greece in various fields, and called for the promotion of Tehran-Athens economic cooperation.

Speaking in a meeting with Greece's incoming Ambassador to Tehran Georgious Aifantis on Monday, President Rouhani said there is no barrier to the enhancement of bilateral relations between the two friendly nations.

"There have always been good relations between the two ancient countries, and I hope that the bilateral relations between Tehran and Athens would witness further expansion."

"Iran is a key country in the region and Athens is resolved to be Tehran's friend and strategic partner," the Greek envoy said for his part.

In September, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Greek counterpart Evangelos Venizelos in a meeting in New York conferred on the latest developments in the bilateral relations as well as the regional and international issues.

During the meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly summit in New York, Venizelos expressed the hope that obstacles to reaching a comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and Group 5+1(the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany) will be removed through continued efforts.

The two ministers also reviewed major bilateral, regional and international developments.
