Iranian, Syrian Ministers Confer on Energy Cooperation.
During their meeting held here in Tehran on Tuesday, the two ministers also conferred on exports of Iran's natural gas to Syria.The Iranian oil minister called for promotion of Tehran-Damascus economic relations, and added that their cooperation in the region will serve the interests of the two sides and will protect them from global economic recession.The Syrian minister, for his part, expressed Damascus's willingness to hold more talks on Iran's gas exports to Syria.Lutfi added that his visit to Iran is aimed at taking part in the 8th follow-up committee meeting on Iran-Syria economic cooperation.The meeting kicked off work here in Tehran on Monday to explore avenues for the further expansion of trade ties between the two countries.Iran's Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ali Nikzad announced that a number of additional agreements have been made during the meeting.Also on Monday, Iran's First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi announced that Tehran and Damascus are to finalize an agreement on establishing a joint bank in the near future.
