--To Sign Military, Security Deals With Qatar

Iran has reached initial agreements to demarcate its maritime borders with Bahrain and Qatar, the pan-Arab daily AL HAYAT reported on Thursday. Responding to a question by AL HAYAT, Abdullah Sehrabi, Iran's ambassador to Qatar said that his country concluded a maritime agreement with Bahrain months ago. He added that a similar agreement was reached with the Qatari government "after talks which were held in stages." He said that final agreements with Qatar and Bahrain will be signed after intensive study by each country.

Sehrabi added that Iran and Qatar will sign two additional security and military agreements. He explained that the military agreement will include exchanging military expertise between armies of the two countries. He added that that a draft of the security agreement has already been concluded. It will include among other things the exchange of wanted criminals. Sehrabi further revealed that joint Iranian-Qatari committees have been formed to strengthen cooperation in education and science research between Iran and Qatar.
