Iran to launch indigenous research ocean liner.
ISLAMABAD -- Iran is preparing to launch a homemade research ocean liner in couple of weeks.
The ocean liner dubbed 'Persian Gulf Explorer' is to provide the grounds for oceanographic activities to explore Persian Gulf, Oman Sea as well as marine research in Northeastern Indian Ocean, the Iranian students' news agency reported.
The Iranian vessel will join Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean to open a new chapter in oceanography and marine activities of the country.
The ocean liner is 50 meters long, 10 meters wide and 12 meters high.
It is equipped with four laboratories and can conduct fieldwork for 45 days, with 27 individuals, and move 3.000 nautical miles.
The ocean liners are mostly used to study sea climate and rare potentials of seas.
