Iran official: Lebanon must avoid regional conflicts.

BEIRUT: A senior Iranian official said Lebanon needed to stay away from crises in the region, during a meeting with Speaker Nabih Berri Wednesday. "Iran emphasizes that Lebanon must stay away from all conflicts in the region, and we believe that security in Lebanon is security for the region and for the Islamic Republic of Iran," said Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, a senior foreign policy adviser to the Iranian Parliament's speaker. According to a statement from Berri's office, Amir-Abdollahian said Iran strongly supported the Lebanese people, Army, government and "resistance," in reference to Hezbollah. He added: "Iran and its allies will not allow the Zionist entity [Israel] and America to mess with the region's security."
