Iran Chess Players Win 3 Medals in Asian Junior Chess Championships 2017.

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian chess players collected three medals at Asian Junior Chess Championships 2017, underway in the city of Shiraz.

Iran's 20-year-old chess player Masoud Mosadeghpour took the silver medal in the Open Rapid category, garnering 5.5 points and finished in the second place, while a competiter from Vietnam, Minh Tran Tuan, took the higherst score of six points to win the gold medal.

Other Iranian team's member, Mersad Khodashenas, landed in the third place.

In girls' division, Indian chess player Sharma Isha managed to grab the gold, collecting all possible six points. Iran's Anousha Mahdian accumulated five points to finish a runner-up, and another Indian player in the category, Guddanti Harshita ranked third.

The Asian Juniors Chess Championships 2017 are being held in the Southern city of Shiraz from May 1-11. The tournament is held under the aegis of the Asian Chess Federation (ACF) and the World Chess Federation (FIDE).
