Ira Mayer elected president of NEPA.
Elected vice president was this year's conference chairman, in the association's usual progression of officers, Tom Hagy of LexisNexis Mealey's, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
The new secretary is Nancy McMeekin of Oakstone Publishing LLC, Birmingham, Alabama.
The newly elected treasurer is Wayne Cooper of Greenhaven Partners, Jaffrey, N.H.
Seeks greater member participation
Ira Mayer told the conference delegates that his major goal as president was the same of almost all of his predecessors--to stump for members' greater participation in the association's various programs. They include the two annual conferences, chapter meetings, listservs, legal advice, and NEPA's seven special interest groups--which are editorial, marketing, conferences, large publishers, operations, sales, and small publishers.
Ira also touted the benefits of volunteering and networking, saying his own time spent with the association has brought him many profitable business contacts and close friends.
Ira will undoubtedly bring his knack for creative and strategic thinking to his presidency.
In the black
Outgoing treasurer Nancy McMeekin reported that NEPA had an income last year of $969,000, which represented a "break-even budget."
The association currently has close to 600 members.
