Ka Mo'olelo Hawaii, a new Hawaiian studies class about pre contact culture, an innovative forensics science class, and the first annual Iolani Film Festival, showcasing original short films of current students and graduates, demonstrate the educational diversity and depth of this 141-year old co-ed, K-12 college prep school. Renowned for its academic excellence and stellar athletic program (seven State championships and 13 ILH championships in 2003-04), Iolani offers an all-around learning environment, enriched by personal attention in small classes and an invigorating campus life with visual and performing arts, community service clubs, and state-of-the-art technology facilities.
"At Iolani, we strive to maintain our level of excellence year after year," says Iolani headmaster Val Iwashita. "We credit our teachers who bring out the best in our students--an unbeatable combination."
A supportive and collaborative learning environment contributes to the schools unique spirit of ohana. Behind its well-earned awards and accolades lies a deep sense of family where "everyone is committed to everyone succeeding," says Iwashita.
"Doing well, being involved, helping each other, and even getting help are valued by our students," explains Iwashita. "Kids flourish here because of the rigor and depth of our programs and because it's cool to do well at Iolani."
"Iolani--One Team" embodies the school's spirit of unity, loyalty, and humility.
