Intimate portrait of Pink Floyd's David Gilmour.
ALTHOUGH Pink Floyd's mostly instrumental and ambient 2014 album The Endless River went down a treat with the band's legions of fans, it did leave some pining for more traditional Floyd elements like David Gilmour's husky vocals and undistorted guitar.
Over the last six months, filmmaker Kieran Evans has been granted unique and exclusive access to document the story of one of the world's most influential musicians.
This film is a beautifully shot, intimate portrait of Gilmour as he delves deeply in to his past, detailing key personal and professional moments in his life that shaped and informed him as both a person and a musician.
From his early beginnings with a simple acoustic guitar, through to his turbulent but hugely creative time spent with Pink Floyd and onto his successful solo career, David reflects about friendship, love, memory, loss and above all, music.
Given his musical status and remarkable achievements, this intimate and honest portrait shines a fascinating light on what keeps Gilmour motivated, drives him forward and makes him still want to pick up a guitar and play.
Ultimately, Wider Horizons is more than just a simple rock documentary for Pink Floyd fans in a reminiscing mood.
It is a fascinating, insightful film about the man behind the artist and should appeal to all music lovers.
