Intesa Sanpaolo SpA (ISP.MI) (OTCBB: ISNPY), Italy's largest retail bank, is considering merging its consumer credit units and merge them with unlisted Delta, a unit that could be acquired in future weeks, Dow Jones has reported citing financial daily Il Sole 24 Ore.

Intesa Sanpaolo has started due diligence on Delta on September 15, the report said without citing sources.

Delta is controlled by Cassa di Risparmio di San Marino.
