Italy's Intesa Sanpaolo SpA (ISE: ISP) (ISP.MI) is expected to make an announcement on its plan for non-core asset disposals before the end of the year, Dow Jones has reported.

'We could make an announcement by year-end,' the bank's chief executive Corrado Passera reportedly said. The bank will also complete a previously announced capital strengthening that includes the sale of its custodian operations as well as the valorisation of asset management unit Banca Fideuram.

In September, the bank decided not to apply for government-sponsored bonds to strengthen its ratios.
