Intertek wins multi-year supply chain inspection contract with PDO.

Intertek, a leading total quality assurance provider to industries worldwide, has won a third party inspection (TPI), quality assurance and quality control contract from Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), to provide global and local quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) across the supply chain of all its north region projects.

The seven-year agreement sees Intertek deliver independent inspection ser- vices globally to support all of PDO's north region oil and gas projects. Intertek will also deliver quality assurance and control services, documentation review and auditing services on cur- rent and future projects. Intertek's global network of industry-recognised technical expertise will be utilized to safeguard the quality of materials, ensure on-time delivery of equipment and vendor compliance as well as confirm that all of PDO's north region projects conform to the company's engineering, construction and operating standards.

Catalin Tomescu, Intertek Director of Operations Asset Integrity Manage- ment and Non-Destructive Testing for Middle East, North Africa and Paki- stan, said: "This multi-faceted agreement will see Intertek ensuring proper quality and control across PDO's value chain. This contract award is testament to our deep experience in the oil and gas sector, and the result of our long- term experience in the region, where we have been providing various assur- ance, testing and inspection services."

Shell Oman Marketing inaugurates deli CAF[ETH]

Orpic conducts its second In-Country Value Roadshow

As part of its commitment to support Sultanate's nationalization plan and offer opportunities to Omani Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Orpic recently conducted its second In-Country Value (ICV) Roadshow in Ibri under the auspices of H.E. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Qatabi, State Advisor. This event was conducted in association with GS engineering & Construction Corp. and Mitsui & Co., Ltd, who have been awarded the NGL Gas Extraction Plant with Offsite & Utilities for Liwa Plastics Industries Complex (LPIC) Project. The day-long event discussed Orpic as well as GS Engineering & Construction Corp. and Mitsui & Co., Ltd's investment impact on Oman's economy through the LPIC project. Speaking at the event, Dr. Hilal Al Hinai, General Manager - Corporate Support Services, Orpic, said, "As one of the transformational projects being undertaken by Orpic, we are committed to serving Oman with pride. Gutech Geosciences students receive scholarships for laboratory course in Germany

Four students of the Department of Applied Geosciences will receive scholarships, comprising course fees and accommodation, for the International Course on Carbonate Microfacies 2017 to be held at the University of Erlangen in Germany between 2 - 11 March 2017. GUtech students Amal Al Shahaibi, Amani Qasim, Ibtisam Al Kharusi and Wafa Al Ismaili received the award notifications from the Rector of GUtech, Prof. Dr. Ing. Michael Modigell. The course is held under the umbrella of the German Geological Society (DGGV). "I am proud that I can still offer this opportunity to our high performance students," said Prof. Dr. Michaela Bernecker, Head of the Department of Applied Geosciences at GUtech. The criteria for the award of the scholarship included performance in subject-relevant courses and the student motivation in course-relevant subjects. The course will cover all classic and modern aspects of carbonate sedimentology. Lectures on different topics of carbonate microfacies, given by professors from several German universities will be linked with exercises with so-called thin sections and sediment samples. The main focus of the course is on recent developments in carbonate sedimentology. The Geocenter owns a world renowned, one-of-a-kind collection of carbonate thin-sections and sediment samples.
