WIT series on transport systems and traffic engineering; v.1

The new series will publish selected papers from various international conferences organized by the Wessex Institute of Technology that contribute to connecting innovative research in transport systems to practice. The 13 papers in this first volume deal with safety issues at road intersections, where about one-third of all traffic accidents occur. The topics include analysis of traffic capacity and design for the reconstruction of a large roundabout in Zagreb, the variability of start-up lost times and departure headways at signalized intersections in urban areas, pedestrian risk perception in signalized street crossings, formulating a large roundabout capacity under high demand flows, and a dynamic and automatic traffic light control system for solving the road congestion problem. Only authors are indexed. The US office of WIT Press is Computational Mechanics.
