STOCKHOLM, Sweden & SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 2004

First available software suite to support equipment vendors in the

dynamic service provider edge market

Interpeak, a leading supplier of Internet and security protocol solutions for embedded systems, today introduced the Internet Edge Software (IES), an integrated software solution for edge equipment vendors. IES provides integrated support for data routing and forwarding, user administration, secure management, and basic system services. The application allows full virtual routing for IPv4 or IPv6, an efficiency not previously available.

Intended primarily for edge equipment vendors and manufacturers, IES is also ideally suited for developers of session controllers, DSLAMs, B-RAS systems, and IP-Service platforms.

"IES is the only protocol suite that provides full virtual routing with support for IPv6 on all major operating systems," said Johan Fornaeus, CEO, Interpeak. "Out-of-the-box integration with routing protocols from all leading vendors, as well as a full suite of protocols for secure management and user administration, will significantly shorten time to market for vendors in this highly competitive space."

The data routing and forwarding capabilities of the Interpeak IES include:

-- Virtual routing with full virtualization

-- Dual-mode IPv4/IPv6

-- VLAN support

-- Programmable QoS framework

-- Integration with OSPF, BGP, MPLS routing stacks from all

leading vendors.

"Interpeak's IES was easily integrated into our session controllers," said Jayesh Shah, Software Director, of Newport Networks. "Our market, which predominantly consists of Tier 1 Service Providers, will be delighted by the extra functionality and extraordinary performance of our session controllers that has been enabled by Interpeak's IES."

Interpeak IES runs on all major real-time operating systems, including Linux, VxWorks, INTEGRITY, OSE, Nucleus, and others. As with other Interpeak products, IES includes basic system services, such as DNS and SNTP clients. The user administration capabilities of IES include PPP/PPPoE, Radius, and DCHP relaying. IES secure management includes SNMP v1/v2c/v3, SSH for secure remote login, SFTP for secure file transfer, as well as a secure embedded web server.
