A "male creche" opened this week at the Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock, Essex where men can play any of 40 games, while their partners do the Christmas shopping. It's operated by the online games website Flipside UK and has 30 computers from www., plus board and card games.

Children's BBC is planning a new computer and video games show due for launch in the New Year that will cover all the games consoles and the software for them. Producer Michael Underwood says, "Although children are the target audience, it will be intelligent and authoritative."

The promised online options in Final Fantasy X for PlayStation 2 have been dropped because developers SquareSoft have had to delay their PlayOnline service.

In Spiderman on the PlayStation, go to Cheats in Options and input STRUDL for unlimited webbing.
