Internet Security Systems Appoints Sergio Gemo as Vice President of Channels; Sales and Channel Expert To Strengthen Partner Relations.

ATLANTA -- Internet Security Systems (ISS) (NASDAQ:ISSX) today announced that Sergio Gemo has been appointed vice president of channels for the Americas and will play a key role in the Americas sales organization. Gemo will be responsible for broadening and deepening ISS' channel capacity and strengthening relationships with strategic ISS business partners including Verio, IBM, Accenture and HP. With more than 20 years of experience as a sales and channel professional, Gemo will work to ensure that the goals and strategies of ISS partners are tightly aligned with the company's dedication to advanced security research and vision of providing preemptive protection for customers.

"In order to maintain a leadership position in a competitive IT market, it is imperative that we continue to evolve our channel strategy," said Larry Costanza, senior vice president of Americas sales for Internet Security Systems. "With a strong sales background, as well as experience in both reseller and distributor companies, Sergio's well-rounded professional history makes him uniquely positioned to lead us in these efforts."

In a recent security VAR survey conducted by Susquehanna Financial Group, ISS' overall vendor satisfaction score is shown to have jumped significantly in Q2 2005. In addition, the survey indicated a 20 percent increase in ISS' channel revenue in Q2 versus the previous year.

"With the addition of Gemo to our sales team, we are confident that these channel success figures will continue to rise," said Costanza.

Before joining ISS, Gemo served as vice president of North America sales at Inkra Networks, a start-up security company, and at Alcatel's enterprise division. At Alcatel, Gemo was responsible for all North American sales and channels and was able to transform the company from a purely direct sales organization to one with a channel mind set. Gemo has also served as senior vice president of Americas sales at Westcon, a specialty distributor of networking communications and security products, and as vice president of marketing at networking reseller company, Anixter.

"Today it is essential for a wide range of technologies - from routers and servers to VoIP and wireless - to be infused with security measures," said Gemo. "This creates endless partnership possibilities for a company like ISS that can address practically any IT security concern. I look forward to turning this universal need for IT security into thriving business partnerships for ISS."

The Internet Security Systems(TM) partner program stands out among those of other security companies due to the advanced research capabilities of the ISS X-Force(R) research and development team. ISS partners benefit from 24/7/365 global security monitoring and the Proventia(R) Enterprise Security Platform (ESP), which provides comprehensive protection from network- and host-based attacks before they impact business assets. By transforming up-to-the-minute security intelligence and complex technologies into products that are both effective and easy to use, ISS is enabling partner organizations to easily deliver preemptive protection tools that help customers meet regulatory compliance, protect critical information and lower security costs.
