International campaign welcomes British governmentEoACAOs denunciation of Israeli siege.

Gaza / PNN -- The Committee on Foreign Relations in the British House of Commons condemned the continued imposition of the blockade on the Gaza Strip and the denial of access to humanitarian aid. The Gaza Strip has been under Israeli siege for three years and is in severe need of reconstruction materials that are banned. The British House said earlier this week that the "voice of conscience cannot ignore the tragedy that is growing for a million and a half people."The Brussels-based European Campaign to Lift the Siege on Gaza issued a welcoming statement today of the decision writing, "The statements made in the British parliamentary report are important steps in the right directionC*practical and urgent action is required to lift the unjust siege continuing for the fourth consecutive year."The British position is considered an explicit agreement that Israeli forces committed war crimes in Gaza during the major attacks of late December and January. The British Foreign Affairs Committee membership includes MPs from all political parties represented in the House of Commons, and is in the position to use considerable influence to invoke international law.
