International Round-up: Group 3 victory for Low Pivot; Italy.

Low Pivot (73-10) gave first-season sire Pivotal his opening Pattern-race victory with a last-gasp success in the Group 3 Premio Chiusura at San Siro, Milan, yesterday.

Well suited by the bottomless conditions, Low Pivot was perhaps fortunate to prevail by a nose, as the main challenger Xua lost her action in the final 20 yards

Low Pivot, trained by Giuseppe Colleo and ridden by Mario Esposito, is the first juvenile to win this seven-furlong contest since 1978.

The front two pulled eight lengths clear of Swedish raider, Shawdon, while odds-on favourite, Tertullian, bidding to win the race for the third time, was only fifth.
