International Round-Up: Germany: Subiaco enters Derby picture.

Next month's German Derby could be dominated by trainer Andreas Schutz and the stallion Monsun after the Cologne trainer saddled a third colt by that sire to win an important Derby trial when Subiaco landed the Group 3 Walter J Jacobs-Rennen at Bremen yesterday, writes David Conolly Smith.

Ridden by Kevin Woodburn, the even-money favourite moved up from second place to take the lead soon after the two-furlong marker, and won with a little in hand.

Auenzar was two lengths adrift in second, with Michael Roberts' mount, Pappus, a further length and a half back in third.

Schutz is likely to retain Woodburn's services aboard Subiaco in the Derby-at Hamburg in two weeks' time-as stable jockey Andrasch Starke has already opted for the Grosser Muller Brot-Preis winner, Samum.

In Dortmund, Georg Bocskai signed off his time as stable jockey to Mario Hofer on a winning note when Banyumanik landed the Group 3 Preis der Dortmunder Wirtschaft.

The son of Perugino led his rivals a merry dance from the off and was kicked clear entering the home straight. He had enough in reserve to hold on, beating Elle Danzig by three and a half lengths, with Huambo a further length and a half back in third.

Hofer said: "My association with Georg has come to an end, but he will continue to ride for me on occasions."
