International Paper names vice president - business development and planning.

PURCHASE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 1996--International Paper has named C. Cato Ealy, 39, to the position of vice president - business development and planning, effective immediately.

In his new position, Ealy will have overall responsibility for evaluating acquisition and divestiture opportunities. He will also assist and coordinate the development and review of strategic plans for the company's business units to ensure anticipated financial returns meet corporate targets. Ealy will report to James P. Melican, executive vice president-legal and external affairs, and will be based at the company's headquarters in Purchase, N.Y.

Prior to joining International Paper in April 1992 as director - corporate development, Ealy was a director of Charterhouse Inc., a New York-based investment banking firm, and before that, he was vice president - mergers and acquisitions for PaineWebber. Ealy has his bachelor's degree in economics from Yale University and his master's degree from MIT's Sloan School of Management.
