Interior minister: Gov't keen to hold parliamentary elections on time.

Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Nayef Al Qadi said the government is keen under directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to create proper conditions and provide all facilities to hold parliamentary elections on time and encourage Jordanians to take part in the election process.

At a meeting with secretaries general of parties, the minister said all components of the Jordanian society should take part in the upcoming elections as these elections are a legitimate mean to select true representatives of Jordanians who will monitor the government's policies.

"We are committed to enabling all Jordanians to take part in the elections process, he said, adding the government will prevent any attempt to influence results of the elections.

He said the ministry is ready to look into comments from any party provided they are realistic and logic, adding our reference will be the law and the constitution.

On the Palestinian issue, Al Qadi said Jordan supports efforts that lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the Palestinian national soil with Jerusalem as its capital.
