This reference for professionals in the construction industry covers the broad range of knowledge needed for both commercial and residential interior projects. It has been updated to reference the 2006 International Building Code and includes a new chapter on sustainable design. Material is organized in the same order that interiors are constructed. Early chapters describe construction components that give form to all interior spaces in all types of interior construction. These include the elements of partitions, ceilings, glazing, and woodwork. Later chapters cover finish materials applied to the structure of the building. Supplemental topics, such as acoustics, security systems, and barrier-free design, are covered at the end of the book. More than 360 b&w illustrations lead readers through all the materials and methods of interior construction and detailing. For convenience, the Construction Specifications Institute's MasterFormat numbers are used throughout. The book will be of use to architects, students, and anyone else working in interior design and construction. Ballast is an architectural research consultant
