Intergraph Process & Building Solutions Announces FrameWorks Plus 7.0; Structural Steel Tool Upgrade Shown at Process & Power 2001 International.
ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 2001
FrameWorks Plus 7.0 structural steel engineering software is planned for shipment to customers during third quarter, the Process & Building Solutions division of Intergraph Corporation (Nasdaq: INGR) announced today at the Process & Power 2001 International conference. New features in FrameWorks Plus 7.0 include modeling enhancements such as rule-based joints and more drawing features, expanded analysis and data exchange capabilities, extended reporting flexibility and clash envelope improvements. The new features combine to make FrameWorks Plus 7.0 (www.intergraph.com/structural) a truly global, integrated and more automated engineering environment that meets the requirements of structural specialists worldwide.
FrameWorks Plus 7.0 is available as the structural module of the Intergraph Plant Design System (PDS(TM)) 7.0, announced in a separate press release June 11. A stand alone version is $4200 (U. S. list). FrameWorks Plus 7.0 runs on the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000 operating system in addition to Windows NT 4.0 and is compatible with Bentley Systems MicroStation/J.
Rule-Based Joints Improve Modeling Consistency
The intelligent modeling functions of FrameWorks Plus 7.0 include rule-based joints, which provide a template for consistency and adherence to structural engineering standards and accepted practices. Engineers can create and apply rules when connecting members. Rule-based joint features support placement settings by point, key-in and rule when making connections for beam-column vertical braces, beam-vertical chevron braces and beam-horizontal chevron braces.
For increased automation of the engineering process, new drawing features include automatic scaling, text positioning memory, single line setbacks, abbreviated section size and delta top-of-steel annotation. When locating elements, engineers can now filter members based on creation/modification date and time.
Improved Analysis Capabilities
FrameWorks Plus 7.0 features a number of new analysis and integration capabilities that improve the analytical and calculation process and promote completeness and accuracy of data exchange. Section name mapping capability enables users to reduce errors and improve data accuracy when exchanging data with integrated, third-party analysis packages such as STAAD-Pro and GT-STRUDL. Users can apply a new self-weight load case as well as store load cases and combinations in a separate file and write those values to every model in the project to improve consistency and eliminate data re-entry. In addition, engineers can graphically define the load location on a member and can individually select and edit loads.
PDS Material Data Publisher Adapted for Productivity
FrameWorks Plus 7.0 includes Material Data Publisher, which enables users to generate their own material data reports and extract other key data from a set of Oracle tables. Material Data Publisher makes reporting much easier, since users can employ familiar reporting tools within Oracle, Informix, Microsoft SQL Server or Microsoft Access to create reports on structural data. The feature also contains material takeoff and coordinate data for linear and solid members and reporting of named group information.
Reduce Downstream Clashes
FrameWorks Plus 7.0 clash envelope improvements help reduce interference later in the structural workflow as well as in downstream tasks such as those involving placement of equipment, piping or electrical raceways. For example, circular holes appear as cylinder-shaped clash envelopes in the model. The improved clash function promotes increased constructiblity, operability and maintainability of plant components.
About FrameWorks Plus 7.0
Intergraph FrameWorks Plus 7.0 engineering software completes the structural design, analysis, fabrication and detailing workflow, making it fully digital to significantly reduce rework in fabrication and detailing. The software supports 3D modeling, drawing, fabrication and detailing of steel beams, columns, braces, cutouts and sleeves as well as concrete slabs and walls. FrameWorks Plus 7.0 exclusively provides combination 2D/3D capabilities with certified interfaces to analysis/design software including GT-STRUDL, LARSA, STAAD-Pro, SAP2000 and RAM Steel. Steel detailing interfaces include CDS, SDS/2, StruCAD and X-steel.
FrameWorks Plus 7.0 produces intelligent models and comprehensive fabrication and detailing data packages. Structural engineers use model data for physical members, accurate material takeoffs and realistic 3D project reviews and can transmit fabrication and detail data to fab shops. SDNF and CIMsteel compliant, FrameWorks Plus 7.0 runs on Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0. ASIC and BCSA steel tables round out the comprehensive library of standard steel section data from 14 countries included with the software.
