International Process & Power 2002
HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 21, 2002
JGC Corporation of Japan has signed a contract to purchase eMARIAN(TM) materials management software and services from the Process, Power & Offshore division of Intergraph Corporation (Nasdaq:INGR). The contract covers software and services for installation and systems integration of the eMARIAN Web-enabled modules for Bulk Material Life Cycle Library and Engineering & Procurement Integration. JGC plans to deploy and integrate eMARIAN with its proprietary procurement management system at its World Operations Center in Yokohama. The company will use eMARIAN in the hydrocarbon sector for jointly executing projects with global suppliers to meet or exceed client specifications for equipment and materials.
The sale to JGC is the second major MARIAN (www.intergraph.com/ppo/marian) transaction this year in Japan.
Company officials made the announcement at International Process & Power 2002, where some 400 Intergraph customers from more than 50 countries are participating in a variety of events. The conference continues here through Thursday.
Flexibility for Using JGC Commodity Codes
Deputy General Manager, Engineering Division, JGC Corp., Kazuyoshi Obata, said, "After extensive evaluation of several materials and procurement management solutions, JGC selected eMARIAN because of its functionality and particularly its flexibility for using our own commodity codes and best practices. Due to the interface between JGC's existing systems and eMARIAN, JGC expects to compress schedules, eliminate materials surplus and execute our material processes globally. The integrated systems are expected to bring significant cost savings and an improvement in risk management."
Kevin Stanley, vice president, Asia Pacific business unit, Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore, Sydney, Australia, said, "Intergraph envisions practical benefit for JGC's worldwide operations network as eMARIAN helps to provide a global material standard and manages close relationships with project teams around the world."
Web-enabled eMARIAN Modules Reduce Procurement Costs
The Bulk Material Life Cycle Library provides both corporate and project level materials libraries, enables materials revision and change management and rapid estimates for new project bids. The Library helps reduce costs through material data standardization and re-use, especially for bulk material such as piping.
The Engineering & Procurement Integration Module translates engineering requirements to procurement deliverables including automatically generated bills of materials and requisitions. The module shows status of any item and reduces surplus materials and delays due to shortage.
eMARIAN: Enabling Global Procurement
The Web-enabled eMARIAN (www.intergraph.com/process/marian) is an integrated life cycle materials and procurement management solution for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firms and owner/operators in the process manufacturing, power generation and allied industries. eMARIAN allows companies to globally converge systems and work processes and enables true worldwide e-Procurement on an enterprise or project level.

Cost savings achievable with eMARIAN comprise up to three percent of total installed costs for typical international lump sum turnkey projects. eMARIAN helps increase competitiveness by reducing project bid time and man-hours as well as controlling total project costs.
eMARIAN handles materials standardization, bills of material and requisitions, procurement and supply chain functions, fabrication tracking and site tasks including simulation, warehousing and disposition. The solution allows customers to share materials data with design and business systems, clients, contractors and suppliers. The standard eMARIAN integrates with and complements business systems, including those from SAP, J. D. Edwards and Oracle.
