The Baltimore City Health Department (Bchd) Carried Out A Review Confirmed By External Consultants Who Recommended The Star Laboratory Information Management System (Starlims) To Replace The Current 20-year Old Bchds Lab System. Efforts To Customize And Modernize The Current Lab System Were Overtaken By Off-the-shelf Technology, Which Render The Current Revamped System Obsolete. The Proposed Starlims Is Used Throughout Maryland For All Public Health Laboratory Functions, The States Department Of Health And Mental Hygiene (Dhmh) And The Cdc. Starlims Is A Proprietary System That Integrates Directly With Bchds Testing Equipment, Its Medical Records, And Dhmhs Lab. In Addition, A Dhmh Grant Funds Half This Specific Starlims.
