Intellon broadens North American sales channels; Signs 11 manufacturers representatives in U.S. and Canada.

OCALA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 1995 As the EIA Consumer Electronics Bus (CEBus ) Home Automation Standard emerges as the industry standard for in-home networks, Intellon Corporation today announced the expansion of its sales channels to bring its CEBus-compliant technology to a wider base of product manufacturers. Intellon has signed 11 manufacturers representatives to broaden its sales distribution channels in North America. Beacon Electronics Associates, BP Sales, Electra Technical Sales, InTELaTECH, J.E. Boeing Co., Inc. (JEBCO), Luscombe Engineering, Marathon Technical Associates, SC Cubed, Nexus, Seltec Sales and SJ Associates have become the Intellon selling arm in the U.S. and Canada. The representatives will resell Intellon's entire line of wireless distributed control technology to the home-, commercial- and utility-automation markets.

We're very enthusiastic about teaming with these preeminent representatives. Their combined capabilities will allow us to better serve a broader range of customers in a rapidly expanding market, said John Teegen, vice president of sales at Intellon.

Intellon's product line has been enthusiastically received by the manufacturers representatives because, according to JEBCO president, George Tebbets, it enables them to participate in a new, fast-growing market with a new generation of high- performance, standards-based products. Intellon provides a new and exciting entry into a vast expansion of electronic systems for personal and home network applications, said Tebbets. We see this as a new direction with unlimited potential for JEBCO and Intellon.

Intellon's CEBus-compliant products are being adopted by leading cable, utility and telecommunications companies as the baseline technology for building advanced control infrastructures. AT&T, for example, chose Intellon's CEBus radio frequency and power line technology to build a two-way, broadband network for the utility industry. The network will enable electronic communications between households and utilities, allowing utilities to offer new services to their customers and give them greater control of energy usage.

Intellon offers a range of CEBus-compliant OEM modules, components and development tools for power line and radio frequency applications. These products which include ICs and network connection points allow devices to be networked over multiple media in the home, and they provide the in-home infrastructure for the information highway. The products are based on Intellon's patented Spread Spectrum Carrier (SSC), the wireless technology behind CEBus. Founded in 1989, Intellon Corporation is a privately held company based in Ocala, Florida. The company is a leading supplier of wireless intelligent distributed control technology key to a variety of fast-growing markets, including utility, home, industrial and commercial building automation. Intellon's products are used in thousands of applications in the United States and worldwide. -0-
