Management Standards with Professional Development Initiatives

EDISON, N.J., June 5 /PRNewswire/ --

Intelligroup, Inc. (Nasdaq: ITIG), a global vertical Application Service Provider (ASP), today announced that its ASPPlus Advanced Development Center in Hyderabad, India has been awarded Level 2 of the People Capability Maturity Model(R) (P-CMM(R)) by the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute (SEI). The achievement recognizes Intelligroup for its ability to attract, develop, motivate, organize and retain the talent needed to continuously improve its software development capability.

The SEI/P-CMM certification program consists of five maturity levels for continuously improving talent, developing effective teams, and successfully managing the people assets of the organization. Intelligroup reached P-CMM, Level 2 certification as a result of documented improvement around such people-related activities as work environment, communication, staffing, performance management, training and compensation -- key factors in recruiting and retaining top technical talent in the development field.

Intelligroup is among the first in the IT industry to integrate SEI workforce improvement with software process improvement, for which the company has achieved the SEI Capability Maturity Model for Software (CMM)(SM) Level 3 certification for continuous improvement of its software engineering. In addition, Intelligroup is ISO 9001-certified for software development, support and optimization.

"We are very pleased to be recognized by the SEI for our commitment to attracting, developing and retaining the excellent professionals today's technology demands," said Arjun Valluri, chairman and co-CEO of Intelligroup. These efforts and those of our talented staff contribute directly to our success in delivering on our ASPPlus Hosting and Global Sourcing contracts, on schedule and within budget."

"We believe we are unique in having committed to both process and people improvement and we are confident that we will reach our objective of Level 5 certification in both of these frameworks by 2003," said Bosco Malapatti, Director and Chief Operating Officer, Intelligroup Asia. "With this initiative, we hope to reduce attrition rates by a significant percentage and to assure the growth and continuity of our IT capabilities and skills, worldwide."
