Intel warns of threat to Jewish community.
CENTRAL intelligence agencies have issued an alert on possible threat to Jewish tourists and its establishments in India. The alert has been issued ahead of Jewish festivities celebrated by travellers and members of the Jewish community in India.
Intelligence sources said the alert has been issued in view of Jewish New Year, which is celebrated on October 2. It is followed by the Fast of Gedalya, Yom Kippur and Succot.
During this season a large number of Israeli travellers and members of the local Jewish Since a large number of Israeli tourists visit India around this time, there is a possibility that the festival season may be targeted by terrorist organisations.
Clear directions have been issued to strengthen security measures at places of Jewish congregation, especially Chabad House in Pahar Ganj and Vasant Vihar.
Security personnel have also been briefed to mount strict security measures around the synagogues, places visited by the Jewish community, Israeli representatives and Israeli facilities identified in the country.
