Intel reveals new processor and chipset.
Chip maker Intel Corp has introduced a new Pentium 4 processor with a faster system bus and a chipset platform to go with it.
The new Pentium 4 processor runs at 3GHz but features an 800MHz system bus instead of the 533MHz one that is present in previous releases.
The Intel 875P chipset is capable of passing information between the processor and system memory faster through the addition of Hyper-Threading Technology support, Performance Acceleration Technology and Communications Streaming Architecture.
Pricing for the new Pentium 4 begins at USD417 in 1,000-unit quantities while the 875P chipset costs USD53 with RAID or USD50 without. The chipset is available now while the processor is expected to be released shortly.
