Int Media buys e-Security site; reports Results & Plans 16 new shows.

INT Media Group (Darien, CT) has acquired ecomSecurity.com from King Content (Walpole, MA). INT Media has redesigned and relaunched the site and companion e-mail newsletter as eSecuriryPlanet.com. The whole site is being sponsored by AT&T Business.

Targeted to IT managers, the acquired site provides daily information on e-security from a variety of sources, including trade press and original articles from professionals with security product and services firms. INT Media chairman Alan Meckler said the acquired assets "will complement our recently announced eSecurity Conference & Expo" to be Held in late May. In January, INT Media acquired SmallBusinessComputing.com from Freedom Technology Media Group.

Also, INT Media's Events division will begin the production of 16 new trade shows and conferences on Internet and IT-specific topics in 2002. The events will cover such topics as search engines, instant messaging, e-marketing, ISP business, nanotechnology, storage, and voice XML.

Finally, INT Media reported 2001 revenues of $44 million, a decrease of 15.6% from the $52.1 million reported in 2000. The company had a net loss of $8.5 million in 2001 compared to net income of $3.3 million in 2000. INT Media said it has reorganized to reflect "marketplace realties" and that it ended 2001 with $25.1 million in cash, $22.9 million in working capital and no debt.

INT Media produces news, information and media resources for Internet industry and information technology professionals. The company operates 160 Web sites and produces 225 e-mail newsletters. Since November, the company has launched VoicexMLPlanet.com, InstantMessagingPlanet.com, NanotechPlanet.com and GridComputingPlanet.com. The Events division produces over 35 trade shows and conferences, not including the launches in 2002.
