Int'l. Society of Appraisers Offers Appraisal Course.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas--Appraiser? Gallery owner? Dealer? Serious Collector? The Appraisal of Fine Art course, offered by the International Society of Appraisers Nov. 4-9, provides a broad spectrum of information about major categories of fine art, according to the organization.

Course attendees will learn to look at a work of art properly, to identify and research fine art works, to properly describe different art works and to correctly employ the vocabulary common to the field.

Major sections of the course cover painting, sculpture and works on paper. Other sections deal with Japanese prints, Russian icons, animation art, photography and Spanish colonial art. Conservation, identification, fine art research and doing market research online are also addressed. Museum field tours and hands-on research practice are included.

Non-member students are welcome, and since a pre-course assignment must be completed, early registration is recommended (go to www.isa-appraisers.org for more information). Students who successfully complete this course receive continuing education units from the University of Maryland University College.
