Installation of Fire Extinguishers in Multi-storied buildings ordered.

RAWALPINDI -- District Officer Civil Defense Sanjeeda Khanum Monday said that strict action would be taken against the owners of high rise buildings for not installing fire-fighting equipment, smoke alarms and safe exits in buildings.

While visiting various areas of the city, she said a number of incidents

have taken place in the past due to lack of safety measures like ineffective fire- fighting equipment, short circuiting and smoke alarms besides no emergency exits in commercial buildings.

The District Officer informed that a survey was carried out by the department to identify buildings violating safety rules.

She said various buildings have been identified and their owners have

been directed to take steps for required safety measures to avoid loss of lives in case of any emergency.
