Innovative packaging solutions from Amcor Flexibles chosen for new cheese launch.

One of the UK's biggest cheese producers, The Cheese Company, has chosen several patented packaging innovations from Amcor Flexibles for the launch of its new premium range cheeses. The cheese market has not traditionally been known for innovative packaging and standard flowpacks have been widely used for a very long time; but all that is about to change.

The distinctive new packs from Amcor Flexibles have been specially selected by The Cheese Company to differentiate its premium grated, blocked and sliced cheeses from standard ranges, whilst the easy opening and recloseability offer added convenience features for consumers. Amcor FibreLite with Amcor Reclose top web lidding material is the latest solution from Amcor Flexibles to be used by The Cheese Company for the launch of a new range of retailer own label sliced Farmhouse cheese. Produced by Amcor Flexibles Lund in Sweden, Amcor FibreLite is a non-woven baseweb laminated to APET/PE or PVC/PE, which captures the traditional look and feel of paper and offers excellent product differentiation. Combined with Amcor Reclose technology the packs give the added consumer convenience of recloseability.

Amcor TearStick stickpacks from Amcor Flexibles Colodense in the UK. Amcor TearStick runs at high speeds and is produced with Fancy Cut easy-tear capability which allows easy-tear initiation through multi layer laminates. This negates the need for a tear-strip--a system which has inherent line efficiency and high wastage constraints.

The Amcor EasyPack system is a unique pack configuration combined with special peelable materials, to give a practical, elegant solution to the convenience of easy opening and reclosure. A peelable, airtight lapseal is achieved between coextruded OPP and a special PE so that the easy-open feature is built into the laminate without the need to use extra material. The overlap seal peels away easily when pulled, thus making the packs simple and safe for everyone, from children to the elderly, to open without the need for scissors or a knife. The packs are reclosed with an adhesive tape. Amcor FlexCan, the easy-open and recloseable, stand-up flexible container, is the ideal consumer-friendly solution for products typically not finished in one serving or use, such as grated cheese. Its wide opening makes it easy to take handfuls of cheese directly from the pack or pour some of the contents out. It can be re-sealed to keep the cheese fresh and it stands up in the fridge to ensure the contents do not spill out during storage.
