Innovation award.

Thermoteknix Systems Ltd is to be presented with a Queen's Award for Enterprise.

Thermoteknix' award, under the Innovation category acknowledges the success it has achieved with its range of MIRICLE thermal imaging cameras over the last three years. Thermoteknix previously won The Queen's Award for Export Achievement in 1998, and is one of only a very few companies to have ever won Queen's Awards in two different categories.

Dr. Richard Salisbury, founder and managing director of Thermoteknix Systems Ltd. says that the success of Thermoteknix is due to the highly innovative way in which the company approached the challenges in developing high performance, miniature, thermal imaging cameras designed for a multitude of applications in aerospace, defence, surveillance and industrial applications: "The award recognizes our commitment to being one of the UK's technology leaders. We are transforming thermal imaging and infrared systems from being large, high power consuming, reliability challenged instruments into highly compact, solid state, high performance cameras that embody low cost manufacture combined with reliability in some of the most challenging environments and applications, designed to expand the market and to win and nurture customer loyalty."

The award is the latest in a series of accolades the company has received recently. In October 2007 Thermoteknix was named Innovative Company of the Year at the iDEA (Innovation and Design Excellence) Awards followed soon after by runner-up in the IET (Institution of Electrical Engineers and Technologists) Innovation in Engineering Awards. In March 2008, Thermoteknix was named Cambridge Innovative Company of the Year.

The Award recognizes Thermoteknix for developing the MIRICLE range of high performance, ultra miniature thermal imaging cameras. Using complex electronics and packaging, the cameras are used in many moving target or camera applications. The range includes hermetically-sealed units for use in space exploration, hand-held imagers, surveillance cameras, cameras for unmanned vehicles and the world's first shutterless thermal imaging camera.
