Inlet Medical Inc.: Taking the Pain Out of Sex.

More Than Ten Million Women Suffer From Chronic Pelvic Pain, National Health

Show to Feature UPLIFT, a Minimally-Invasive, Same-Day Surgical Treatment

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Sexual intercourse shouldn't be painful. The truth of the matter, however, is that painful sex is common among women. In fact, nearly 10 million women suffer from chronic pelvic pain. And nearly 20 percent of these women have a "retroverted" (tipped) uterus, which may cause pain during sex.

What these approximately two million women nationwide need to know is that this condition (a retroverted uterus) and these symptoms (pain during intercourse) CAN be treated -- through a very simple surgical procedure called the UPLIFT procedure. The UPLIFT procedure will be featured on Today's Health, in a segment titled "When Love Hurts," which will air on CNBC on Sunday, November 14th at 1:30 p.m. (EST), and on American One Cable Network, November 13th and 15th at 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (EST) respectively.

"Painful intercourse is to women what impotence is to men," said Lee Jones, President and CEO of Inlet Medical, Inc. "It is a significant women's health issue.

"We may be uncomfortable talking about women and sex, but it was not all that long ago that we felt the same about discussing men and Viagra or men and penile implants."

The UPLIFT procedure is a minimally-invasive, same-day surgery performed by gynecologists to reduce, or eliminate, painful symptoms associated with a retroverted uterus. The surgery has recently been recognized as a way to reposition a tipped uterus, alleviating severe pain during sexual intercourse.

"Before uterine suspension was 're-invented' visa vis the minimally-invasive UPLIFT procedure, women with a retroverted uterus were offered two options -- live with the severe pain or have a hysterectomy," explains Dr. James Presthus, researcher for Inlet Medical Inc.'s UPLIFT clinical study. "I am very pleased to present another option to the many women suffering from this condition -- that option is the UPLIFT procedure."

Minneapolis-based Inlet Medical, Inc., designs and manufactures the patented technology for the Metra PS(TM) kit -- a unique laparoscopic procedural kit, used in the UPLIFT procedure to reposition a retroverted uterus.

"There are many women who have a retroverted uterus and experience symptoms like chronic pelvic pain, dyspareunia, pain during intercourse, or dysmenorrhea, pain during menstruation, and they should know their treatment options," explains Jones. "This surgical kit and procedure have the potential to be the gold standard for uterine repositioning treatment."
