Injured Power 'on the road to recovery'.

JOCKEY Ian Power remained under observation in hospital in Waterford yesterday following a fall at Tramore last Friday.

Turf Club medical officer Dr Walter Halley said yesterday: "There is no change to what I said on Sunday about Ian, in that he's out of intensive care and fully conscious. He's in a public ward in Waterford Regional Hospital and on the road to recovery, but he will have to be fully assessed by the neurological team before he's given the go-ahead to resume riding."

Halley also had good news on Sean McDermott, who was taken to hospital for x-rays on his left ankle following a fall in Kilbeggan on Sunday afternoon.

"The x-rays proved negative, but Sean has a lot of soft tissue bruising and is unable to put much weight on it at present," said Halley.

"I've stood him down until Thursday, so we'll see how he is then."
