Elsevier Health Sciences

This is revised edition of Infusion Therapy in Clinical Practice, by Judy Hankins et al, second edition, 2001. With a new focus on evidence-based practice, this third edition is updated to cover the latest advances in equipment, best practices, and patient safety. A substantial overview section looks at infusion nursing as a specialty and covers legal and ethical issues, patient education, quality management, and financial considerations. A separate chapter on infusion therapy across the continuum offers valuable guidance for treating patients with infusion therapy needs in outpatient, long-term, and home-care, as well as hospice and ambulatory care centers. Later sections cover physiologic considerations, specific infusion therapies and delivery systems, infusion nursing practice, and special populations. Techniques are demonstrated with b&w anatomical illustrations and clinical photos. With coverage of all nine core areas of INS certification, the book is also useful as a review for the CRNI examination. Alexander is CEO of the Infusion Nurses Society.
