Ineffective strikes made Rhondda families suffer; Letters.

I REFER to Mr David Lewis' letter of August 4. The miners' strikes were largely ineffective and led to Rhondda families suffering undue hardship.

To be Lenin is accolade Gilbert Ton To be congratulated by Lenin is hardly an accolade.

Miners' leaders, like AJ Cook, did much harm to the nascent Labour Party and kept it out of effective government.

The lasting legacy of the Welsh valleys is not the strikes but the triumph of the Labour Party over the syndicalists and communists. It did this with the creed of Parliamentary democracy. Let us hope the Labour Party membership remembers this lesson over the next few weeks. Gilbert Davies Ton Pentre
