Indonesia,Malaysia : AIRASIA starts a new cut-rate offer from FRIDAY.
The airline plans to net Rp 50 billion (US$5.15 million) during this fair via delivering 50% discounts on fares of all delayed flights. But, to avail this rebate, the customers will have to buy ticket at the fair.
The CEO of Indonesia Air Asia (I) - Dharmadi has informed the media that his company hopes to sell cut-rate tickets of about 20,000 for national and international destinations between 3rd March and 31st July, 2013 in order to realize the goal.
The cut-rate fares will be available for passengers, who plan to travel on weekdays and excluding school and national holidays.
He added, "We try to attract passenger by giving promotions during this fair with the help of travel agents, to meet our target of nine million passengers this year."
The budget airline served almost 6 million passengers in 2012, in comparison with three million in 2011, reflecting an exciting twofold boost Year-on-Year.
Dharmadi has stated that the low-fare carrier s accomplishment in income segment has been mostly contributed by the travel agents as "About 85 percent of our tickets are purchased online, and most of the purchasing is conducted by travel agents."
Apart from the discount offers, I has been presenting a compensation of Rp 600,000 for each hour of a deferred flight.
The I will receive 10 new Airbus A320 planes this year, which will facilitate the entity to realize its goal to serve 9 million passengers.
Following the delivery of the new Airbus aircraft, the I will have 32 airplanes in its fleet.
The I CEO stated, "We're not going to open new routes with the booked planes, we are simply going to increase flight frequency on existing routes."
