Individuals urged to go for bowel cancer screening

Screen For Life, Qatar's National Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening programme, led by the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), in line with the global 'Movember' awareness month, which highlights men's health issues, reminds people on the importance of timely screening for bowel cancer. During the month of November, Screen For Life aims to remind men and women to take lead of their bowel health and undergo bowel cancer screening, specially that bowel cancer, like many other types of cancer, is a silent disease that can develop without any obvious symptoms. During the 'Movember' initiative, the 'Screen For Life' encourages men and women 50 -74 years old to undergo screening for bowel cancer at one of the three dedicated 'Screen For Life' facilities at Al Wakra, Leabaib and Rawdat Al Khail Health Centres. Bowel cancer screening is done through The Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT), which is a simple and accurate test that can be done privately at home too.
