Indiana Couple Arrested for Caging Daughter Sans Food Or Water.
Alan Friz, 57, and his wife Aimee Friz, 36, were arrested last Wednesday from their house after the Dubois County Sheriff's Department responded to a complaint of an unruly juvenile at the family home.
The child in question spoke to the police and told them that she had been kept locked in the cage since early September, without food or water. Dubois County Herald reported that the authorities found a closet space in the bedroom that was converted into a locked cage.
Friz was then taken into custody on preliminary charges of neglect. Later Aimee was arrested for the same.
A probable cause affidavit filed Monday along with Friz's formal charges noted a second forensic interview that occurred with the victim Friday in which she alleged being improperly touched by accused.
The court documents suggest that the alleged sexual misconduct, which is now at the center of the charges, occurred between Sept. 1 and Sept. 30, and included inappropriate touching,(https://duboiscountyherald.com/b/initial-hearing-held-for-dentist-accused-of-neglect) the Herald reported.
On the other hand, court documents indicate that Aimee spoke to the authorities to share why the girl was kept locked up. Aimee, who is eight months pregnant, told the authorities that the juvenile allegedly threatened to kill her and her unborn child.
Friz also backed his wife's story and indicated that they kept their daughter locked up because they were worried about her behavior. He also alleged the juvenile of hurting his other children.
Aimee and Friz are out on bail as of now, in cash-only bonds of $10,000 and $25,000, with Aimee's bail set low after her counsel, Michael Hagedorn, argued that she was pregnant, had no criminal history and had been a lifetime residence of Dubois County. They are due back in court Nov. 9 for separate preliminary hearings.
Reports state that the couple has been ordered not to have contact with their daughter.
The other children in the family were also placed in the care of the Dubois County Office of Family and Children Services last Wednesday, according to the sheriff's department.
The couple is charged with Level 5 and Level 6 felonies. While the Level 5 felony is a term of incarceration of six years maximum down to one year minimum and a fine of up to $10,000, the penalty for a Level 6 felony has a term of imprisonment of two and a half years maximum down to six months minimum with a fine of up to $10,000.
While Friz currently faces 25 criminal charges including four felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, 11 felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, 11 felony counts of neglect and 11 felony counts of criminal confinement, Aimee faces 11 felony counts of neglect and 11 felony counts of criminal confinement,(http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/10/10/indiana-couple-accused-locking-daughter-in-cage-without-food-water.html) Fox News reported.
