Indian expatriates in UAE respect Sachin Tendulkar's achievements.

Dubai: A cross section of Indians in the UAE were of the opinion that Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar deserves every ounce of the hype created around him. They were, however, quick to add that India will not miss him.

They said young talent have surfaced in recent years, thanks, to the Indian Premier League (IPL).

"India won't miss Tendulkar, there is ample talent in India today. He has been on the scene for 24 years and because of his longevity, people wonder if at all there will be anyone capable to fill his shoes," said Sunil Bhatia, an Indian businessman.

Pointing out Rohit Sharma's maiden century yesterday at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Bhatia said; "Look at Sharma. He was playing his first test cricket and he went on to make a century. This tells us that there is ample young talent out there. All they need is a chance to showcase there skills."

Indian businessman Mukesh Kochar said Sachin is a legend and the hype around him is obvious. "He deserves the hype and hoopla created around him, be it by the media or by anyone else. Look at the man. He is an institution. To be playing cricket for 24 years is not easy. He has maintained himself physically. India will miss him. He is the one and only. There won't be another Sachin Teldulkar for a long- ong time after he retires. He is leaving the game at the right time. Indians will miss him but the game will not miss him."

Ashok Kumar, the CEO of Indian High School is an ardent cricket fan and is of the opinion that the media has created a hype around Tendulkar.

"Look at what happened at Eden Gardens in Kolkata yesterday. There were hardly any spectators when other Indian and West Indian players were batting but the moment Sachin came out at the crease, the number of spectators swelled. This is all because of the hype created by the media. No doubt Sachin has brought laurels to the game of cricket and India. But for me, he is a hero but not a super hero. Nobody is indispensable," said Kumar.

Calling Tendulkar as an amazing player, Eugene Mayne, another Indian businessman said; "He deserves all the hype and why not. The landmarks created by Tendulkar speak for him. He has been on the scene for such a long time and has made Indians and Indian cricket proud. As an Indian I have very high regard for him as a sportsman and as an individual."

Agreeing with what Mayne had to say, senior Indian businessman Ram Buxani said that none of the hype created by the media made any difference to Tendulkar. "He deserves to be praised and why not? Whatever he has achieved is due to his sheer hard work and commitment. Anyone who has done something good for the community and the country should be applauded. Despite all the hype the man has remained humble to the core."
