Indian embassy to mark 150th birth anniversary of Gandhiji.

Muscat: The Indian embassy, in collaboration with Rajyoga Centre for Self Development, will be organising a special event on October 2 to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This event is the first in a series of activities that will be organised over the next two years to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhiji, the Father of Indian nation, gave a message of love and peace throughout his life. His guiding principles of Ahimsa (non-violence), Satyagraha (nonviolent resistance) and Sarvodaya (upliftment of all) remain relevant even today, for everyone In recognition of Mahatma's immense contributions, the United Nations observes each year on October 2, the International Day of Non-Violence.

"On this day, we re-affirm our commitment to the values espoused by Gandhiji and seek to disseminate his message of non-violence, through education and public awareness," said Indian Ambassador Munu Mahawar . "I invite you all to take part in the events and activities being organised to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi," the ambassador said .
