India sets up online system for worker recruitment.
According to the Indian embassy missions in Doha and Abu Dhabi, there is a new procedure for recruitment of workers from India.
Registration of all foreign employers seeking to recruit Indian workers is mandatory on the eMigrate system (www.emigrate.gov.in). The application will then be inspected by the Indian mission.
The eMigrate system affords employers the opportunity to specify their demand for Indian workers and seek a permit to recruit directly, or to select recruiting agents to recruit on their behalf. Either way, this has to be done online.
The full terms and conditions of employment of each category of the job will have to be declared at the time of registered application.
These terms and conditions will act as a specimen contract and will form part of the employment contract at the time of actual recruitment.
The embassy explained that the procedure to fill the online form has been described through videos in the Resources tab of the website (www.emigrate.gov.in).
The implementation of the new system will be done in phases:
Recruitment of more than 150 Indian workers requires employer online registration with immediate effect.
Employers recruiting 50 to 150 Indian workers are required to register online before 30 June, 2015.
Recruiting 20 to 50 Indian workers requires employer online registration before 31 July, 2015.
Employers recruiting less than 20 Indian workers are required to register online before 30 September 2015.
For foreign employers who wish to recruit Indian workers directly, a provision for applying for a permit from the Registering Authority at the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs is available online.
