India : GOVT. issues Rs.929.88Cr. to KVIC.

Estimated work opportunities generated by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) - mainly in the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) industry - in rural and urban parts of India rose by 13 per cent to 140.29 lakh in 2013-14 (as of January this year).

The government has issued Rs 929.88 crore for it in 2013-14, to advance the industry further.

Official data shows that estimated employment that Khadi created (cumulative) in 2013-14 (up to January 31, 2014) hit 10.89 lakh, while employment created by village industries reached 129.40 lakh, as against 10.71 lakh and 114.05 lakh by the two respectively in 2012-13.

Total employment creation hit 140.29 lakh as against 124.76 lakh.
