India : EX-GRATIA of Rs.announced for GAIL pipeline explosion victims.

Announcing an ex-gratia of Rs.25 lakh to the next of kin of those who died in the incident, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu toured the GAIL pipeline explosion site that killed 14 and injured another 20 people.

Engulfing buildings and burning victims to death, the fire occurred on a stretch of pipeline passing through East Godavari District.

It raised raising safety concerns over India s energy projects again.

An inquiry has been ordered into the blast and fire.

Villagers oppose many such projects on safety grounds.
