India : CHENNAI: Noble Initiative via launch of DIABETES CARE ON WHEELS.

The M.V. Centre for Diabetes, an arm of M.V. Hospital for Diabetes, has taken the enterprise of creating a human chain at Napier Bridge jointly with Indian Coast Guard Regional in order to mark the World Diabetes Day.

A public awareness 1-minute film, which was written and directed by Vijay Adhiraj, was also unleashed on the occasion, which was also attended by Indian Coast Guard officials, Inspector General S.P. Sharma; Deputy Inspector Generals - Gurupdesh Singh and B.K. Loshali; and the physicians of the M.V. Centre for Diabetes, R.D. Shedbalkar and S.K. Verghese as well as other supporters of this move.

This year s topic is Protect our Future, which is introduced by the United Nations Organization (UNO), and it focuses on the pressing necessity for adoption of proper measure in order to defend against the disease and its associated ailments via involving countless people for widening alertness on diabetes, its protective measures and actions for controlling the same.

Under the community outreach scheme, Diabetes Care on Wheels, was introduced as well. This vehicle will visit several housing areas and other regions in order to educate people on the complications of this disease, particularly on foot.

Speaking at the occasion, the Managing Director of M.V. Hospital for Diabetes and Professor M. Viswanathan Diabetes Research Centre - Vijay Viswanathan stated, The vehicle will also conduct a few tests for diabetes at a subsidised cost.
