A new report from the Census Bureau has said that the number of Americans without health insurance has increased for the first time since 2009.

Obamacare, which recruited a large number of people into insurance plans, was signed into law in 2010.

Figures show that last year, 27.5 million people, 8.5 percent of the US population, did not have health insurance. The number of uninsured people increased by 1.9 million compared to 2017, when it stood at 25.6 million people, or 7.9 percent of the US population.

Data also said that only 3.3 percent of people obtained health coverage through the state or federal health insurance marketplaces set up under the ACA.
