Inauguration of social projects in Casablanca: New illustration of constant royal solicitude for human element.

Casablanca - His Majesty King Mohammed VI inaugurated Friday in Casablanca new social and sportive projects, an illustration of the constant royal solicitude for the human element as a true wealth of the Kingdom and a key component of its intangible capital. 31 October 2014

HM the King inaugurated the Mohamed Zerktouni socio-sports community centre in the urban commune of Dar Bouazza (Nouaceur province) and a Human Development Centre for assistance to the elderly in the Ain Seba-Hay Mohammadi district. The two projects will cost nearly 21 million dirhams.

The projects, aimed at developing sport activities, strengthening local facilities and supporting some vulnerable social categories, reflect the Sovereign's vision which places the human element at the heart of any development process.

Worth 13.7 million dirhams, the Mohamed Zerktouni socio-sports community centre aims to develop sports skills among children and the youth, prevent juvenile delinquency and school dropout and ensure the target populations' socio-cultural integration through wide access to basic services and facilities

The center, carried out in partnership between the ministry of Youth and Sports and the urban commune of Dar Bouazza, extends over a total area of 9,324 square meter. It features notably a semi-Olympic swimming pool, a sports field, a synthetic turf futsal field and fitness, martial arts and multimedia rooms.

The Human Development Centre for assistance to the elderly, part of the National Human Development Initiative (INDH), is a fruit of partnership with the Amal Foundation for hemodialysis and social works, the regional delegation of national mutual aid and the ministry of Health. Carried out at a cost of 7.2 million dirhams, the center will provide accommodation, food and medical and general wellbeing services to the elderly with no financial resources. With a capacity of 66 stay-in residents and 100 ambulatory people, the new centre (1,700 m2) includes dormitories, dining rooms, a geriatric care unit, medical examination rooms and green spaces.

The new infrastructure will provide the target population with a suitable environment favoring their social integration. It will also provide support and counseling services to the families of the elderly.

Holding a strong social added value, these projects are a continuation of HM the King's multiple actions in the Casablanca Great Region intended to enhance the living conditions of the local population, strengthen basic services and infrastructure and ensure integrated and balanced development of the Kingdom's metropolis.
